My regular visitors know by now that I love a good scripture. I love scripture because these powerful words hold the answers to life’s most important questions, such as “What is my purpose here?” or “Why can’t I get ahead?

Proverbs 18:21 is one of my faves! The ESV translation says:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.

I can’t do justice unpacking this verse in a mini blog. I just want to whet your appetite and give you a bit to chew on this week. Have you ever considered the tongue to have power? Think about all the encounters you’ve had with others. I bet you can think of someone who spoke kindly to you or said they believed in you. It most likely affected you mentally, emotionally, and physically. I dare say it even affected your overall outlook on life.

Now… briefly think of a painful moment. A time when someones words cut through you like a knife. That pain you felt was caused by mere words packed with extraordinary power.

Words can and will shape your life.  What are you confessing on a daily basis?    Are you speaking and believing for good; for yourself and others?  Every new belief begins with words that contain the power of a seed.  If you want to grow a new life or a new idea, begin with a new thought.  Visit that thought often.  Think about it throughout the course of your day. Do this until your new thoughts take root and become evidenced in your life.  Commit to the process!

When I need to make a life change, I rely on my bible to shape my thoughts and influence my reality.  The word of God has proven infallible for me.  It’s not magic but I have found definite help and relentless hope in the pages of the Bible.
