Highs:
I’ve found a plan that works for my body!!!!!! Wooohooo!!! Let’s be real, No one wants to put time and effort into a plan that’s not working. I know the Starch Solution works for many others. I picked it because it was an appealing way to eat and sustainable for me. I love carbs. I wanted a plan that allowed me to keep my affection for oven-baked fries intact. We had a good run. Goodbye Starch Solution. Hello, Eat to Live.
Lows:
After doing the Starch Solution for a solid month I made extraordinarily little progress in the area of weight loss and body mass index. This past week was extremely hard mentally. I knew the Starch Solution wasn’t working the way I hoped it would. After my last weigh-in, I hunkered down and made sure my plate was a 50/50 split of carbs and non-starchy veg. I completely stuck to whole foods just to ensure fidelity. I followed the 50/50 split Sunday thru Wednesday. I weighed in on Thursday morning because I was curious. My weight had rebounded to 165.
I cried. A lot!
After my pity party for one ended, I began the hunt for a new plant-based plan. I came across the work of Dr. Joel Fuhrman M. D. I immediately downloaded his book and started the 6 weeks reset detailed in his plan. started that evening. Dr. Fuhrman’s plan adds a little more whole fats from nuts, seeds, and avocado. He limits carbs to one cup per day and added a boatload of greens. There are a ton of YouTube videos detailing how his “Nutritarian” plan works. His book Eat to Live is also available on Amazon and most digital platforms as well as local libraries.
Real Life
I made a hard and fast U-turn. I didn’t want to waste another day in fear and confusion over what to eat. I thought the switch would be difficult, but it proved rather easy because the 2 plans are closely aligned. I did have to purchase flax seeds and mushrooms… you’ll have to read about why he requires these in a later post.
In Conclusion:
I feel amazing and a little more balanced on this plan. I didn’t realize how much I was missing healthy fats to give me that satiated feeling.
