I’m on a 30-Pound Weight Loss Journey: Week 2 Update

Highs:
Autopilot is my jam. Grabbing an apple or some sliced veggies when midday hanger hit was automatic. I struggled way less over what to eat and how much I should eat. When it comes to consuming non-starchy veggies, how much to eat was never a question. I ate until I was full. Period! I’ve never heard anyone complain about their need to overeat on kale. I’m sure somewhere, someone has tried and lost while spending a considerable amount of time in the bathroom.
Lows:
I often felt and still feel like an inflated balloon. Not my ego (at present) but my belly. The high fiber intake from non-starchy veg and legumes is causing lots of bloat and gas to the highest degree. I had to pull back on the cruciferous crew and move to green beans, beets, and other easy to digest non-starchy veg. I want to be kind to those I’m confined at home with. My plan is to slowly up my fibrous food consumption. These types of foods keep me fuller longer. I’m taking it one ounce at a time.
Work/Life Balance
I’m an educator. Our first quarter ended this past week. Making elaborate meals didn’t happen. I ended up eating pancakes, a bowl of cereal, or some version of a sandwich this week. What happened to “whole foods plant-based”, you curiously ask, well it went up in flames during my times of high stress. I ate whole plant foods as often as I could, but stressful days a heavy workload, and being in a time crunch got the best of me. (Is it just me or does the phrase “time crunch” make you feel hungry for chips?)
To sum things up, I’m back on plan and my life has calmed down for the moment. I’m looking forward to a more focused week with a potential higher fat loss.
In Conclusion:
I feel more in control of my food choices and less driven by cravings. Having a healthy eating plan and faith in God for this journey to health has enabled me to fight for my physical and mental well being. I fully realize there will be challenges and slip-ups along the way. I’m committed to the process for myself and for those who love me!
