Too Old to Prosper??

The struggle is real ya’ll. I’m on my grind, which consists of a very structured regimen. I consistently schedule my time and set timers or things will not get. done. I’m very proud of the progress I’m making but…I’m having a very hard time with my thought life. Not just once in a while, but almost every day. I’m starting something new and battling old thoughts and habits at the same time. Do you feel me? I keep experiencing those angel/devil on the shoulder, moments where the confident side of me whispers, ” You got this! Just take one step after the other and we will slowly journey to a new destination”. Meanwhile, the less confident, and tech challenged side of me is screaming, Girl, let it go. Ain’t no body got time for this- especially you. You getting to old to keep starting over. Now, go have a cookie and cinch in our girdle!”
I have been really frustrated with my split mindset. I am now taking some intentional steps to grow a healthier mindset. I will share my plan with you but, if your hoping I’ve magically found a cure to pass on, so sorry to disappoint! I haven’t figured this thing out perfectly for myself yet. We can take steps together and maybe encourage each other on the way. That’s going to actually require you to comment and participate in the conversation. Go on. Comment! I promise it won’t hurt:)
Okay, back to the mental war I find myself in. I’ll admit, being older makes me feel a bit more apprehensive than I was in my 20’s and 30’s. I think part of it is because I spent many years playing it safe career wise. It’s hard to break out of that “play it safe” mindset. Also, I feel technologically below average- for real! Recently had to google what SEO stands for (Seach Engine Optimization for my pre-2K folks) . I can finally define it, but I still have NO IDEA how to use it!
So what am I doing about it. Well for starters:
- Blogging: I’m using this blog as therapy:) Hey- I need to get my feelings out in a healthy way! What’s your go to method of therapy – Keep it PG! 🙂
- Changing my mindset: I read all manner of business books, especially the Bible to aid in the process- Yup, I mentioned the Bible again. I can’t help it. It is my go to for advice that works. I am currently reading through the book of Proverbs to strengthen my financial and wisdom game. 21:5 says, “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” That’s deep! This verse helped me put things in perspective and stay on the grind.
- Doing the work that matters: I realized, I can’t do everything I used to do. There are not enough hours in the day. I now have to pick and choose. Dishes have been passed on to other family members. Laundry is now shared by all. (If I could insert a grin face right here I would. Since I’m technologically challenged, you just have to imagine it!). I’ve made these changes so I could focus on growing towards my goals. Since doing everything on my list isn’t possible, I am choosing to do strategic things that will get me closer to my business goals.
- Hit Mental Override!!! My negative thoughts do not get to drive this car! I am choosing to empower my new way of thinking. My new thoughts are small with very thin roots. If I keep nurturing them, they will grow and someday become my default way of thinking!
How do you manage change and career risks? I would love to hear your thoughts and get your perspective on this topic. This is a wild journey we’re on! I appreciate your company!!
Hang on tight to your unshakeable faith, wealth beyond measure and laughter ’til it hurts.

28th May 2019 - 9:51 pmGod can make our latter years better than our former, right!? (Sorry… didn’t take the time to look up that scripture!). Here’s a thought… Hebrews (again…on the fly) talks about us being priests with Jesus … the priests in the Old Testament were the men who were qualified to carry out the ceremonies of the temple… your body is the temple and you are a priest … I’d say that makes you qualified to do what God has given you to do! Also, He lives outside of time so I think we are the only ones hung up on that! There you go Kimmie! All your problems solved LOL!!!!!! ( well at least something to think about!) love you and I love what you’re doing !!

I love the perspective that God operates outside of time! I rarely remember that. Thank you. I guess he’s not phased by my timeline and grey hairs:)

18th Jun 2019 - 12:19 pmThis one really spoke to me, Kim. I CONSTANTLY obsess about being too old to BEGIN thriving. And then I remind myself that I’ve been thriving in different ways for most of my life and new beginnings keep me alive! God is so good in reminding me of my worth. And I’m so grateful you’ve allowed Him to use you to do it sometimes!
