The Origin of My Book
Those who have been with me a while know that this website was built around a book I wrote and released in 2011 called God’s Perfect Size. For new members in the audience, let me bring you up to speed. I chronicled my mental, physical and spiritual weight loss/health journey in book form. I actually did not set out to write a book per say. I kept a detailed journal of my ups, downs and sideways experiences along the way. I later started a small group that met weekly. In the group we supported and motivated each other to get healthy. I eventually turned my journal entries into God’s Perfect Size, the book. Later, my friend Kathy and I wrote a workbook that we used in the group to make our weekly sessions more organized. My book later became the official book for the small group. Once I realized I could share my book publicly and possibly earn an income from it, I decided to self published it. Now that you know the back story, let’s fast forward a bit. I self published my book with a “christian” company. Long story short, that company stole, lots of people’s royalties and eventually went under. Some artist and authors never even received the work they paid for. Even while I type this, it all sounds like some made for TV special. The publishing company kept my book files and said I (and the other artists) could have our works back if we paid them more money. I refused to pay more money and they refused to release my files. I was tired of fighting so, I moved on with life. I thought my work (that I paid for initially) was gone forever. Until… 5 years later the publishing company was criminally charged and the owners jailed.
Did you ever get your stolen work back?
As of recently (December 2018), the attorney general got involved and ordered author files and digital works to be returned to victims. I recently received my files after years and years of battling. I am so relieved!!! Some of you have been asking me where you can purchase the book. The truth is, I am in the process of securing a new ISBN. Typically, a book will carry its ISBN number forever. Only in extreme circumstances will they allow you to request a new one. The bottom line is I am in a holding pattern for now.
Do you still teach on weight loss?
I still love sharing what I have learned with those who ask. It’s hard for me to see people suffering and not offer a hand. As for public speaking, I have done a hand full of speaking engagements in the last few years. I was so hurt over everything that happened, I walked away from it all. I allowed it to take a toll on me. I sometimes regret losing faith in myself. I do wonder where I would be if I had not given up.
What are your next steps?
My next steps??…Hmmm…. You are standing smack in the middle of my next steps. I am blogging again and it feels great. It is time for me to find my voice once more. I will continue taking steps towards publishing creative works, building a brand and standing up to life’s challenges.
What about you?
I think it’s fair that you answer the same question. What are your next steps? Are you where you thought you would be by this time in your life? Is there something more you would like to do? I am taking steps daily towards my goals. I can’t afford to waste any more time. We can do this together. One year from now, we can land in a much better place. Let’s see what we can accomplish in the next 365 days!
I’m praying for you on your journey to realizing your goals!
Keep moving forward and remember, I wish you unshakeable faith, wealth beyond measure and laughter ’til it hurts.
Yay!!! Unshakable faith t-shirt is now available! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QH3GXN3
