Hey ya’ll!  I’m momentarily coming out of natural hair retirement to share an awesome DIY with you.

What’s driving me out of hair hibernation you ask?  Well let’s start with a confession.  I have been horrible to my hair this past year.  I was barely moisturizing it.  A week would pass before I would give it any kind of water or leave-in.  I have been wearing it in a bun for nearly a year.  I just couldn’t be bothered to take care of it.  Life has been really busy and sadly, my hair was last on my list of priorities.

It wasn’t until one of my loving sisters noticed my hair and said I was starting to look like Beetle Juice.  BEETLE JUICE!!!  If you’re not familiar with the ghostly wispy haired character from this  80’s cult classic, Google it now…I’ll wait.

Now you know why that statement got my attention.  I am on a mission to get my hair in better condition.  I have a long way to go since my hair is broken off, dry, and full of fairy knots and split ends.

I now have a regimen of sorts. I wash once a week (if possible).  I will trim more frequently as needed until the damage is gone . Every 2-3 nights I spray my homemade leave in mixture (recipe coming this fall).  And I seal with my oil bar.  This oil bar is saving my hair!!!  My hair is holding moisture longer and it feels smoother.

This recipe is the formula that works for my hair.  The beauty of this bar is that you can easily swap out the oils for a lighter or heavier consistency.  It pairs well with my curly/coily products and I have not noticed any residue when combined.

This bar may not solve world peace, but it is saving my hair, one strand at a time.  All of the oils I used are linked below.
