The title is the answer to a question a friend recently asked me.  She wanted to know what has been the most difficult obstacle I’ve encountered while changing careers.  In the moment, I said it was the learning curve or what I call the learning hike!  Just figuring out where to start was a challenge.  There’s just so much you don’t know when you are trying something new.  I am overcoming that challenge through strategy.  Strategizing, is something I do know how to do.  I am good at making a plan and creating a strategy.  When I don’t know something, I ask and ask again until I find the answers.  I also read veraciously, watch tutorials, purchase information from experts on the topic and outsource tasks.  This strategy has served me well!

As tough as the learning hike has been, nothing prepared me for the anguish I would feel over letting go of a career I’ve built on blood sweat and thousands of dollars!  I invested greatly to have one type of career only to change my mind!!!

The Dilemma

The mental stress of changing my mind has been my greatest hurdle.  Can you relate?

So, why did I do it?  I honestly would regret it if I didn’t try.  There is also another reason.  I made the decision to choose a certain type of career at a young age.  It worked well for me back then.  As time went on and life happened, I evolved.   Life has so much to offer and I’m drawn to more than one type of experience.  I hunger to try new thing and build custom platforms.  That’s it in a nutshell.

My Answer

Now the money piece, threw me for a loop.  Knowing what I’ve paid to become this one thing is sooooo hard to let go of.  Will I ever recoup what I have invested financially?  I believe so!  Is the money I’ve paid strong enough to keep me from doing something else.  DEFINITELY NOT!!!

I want to live my life out loud and on purpose!
